About Us
The Institute of Arts and Letters of Albufeira is an education establishment licensed by the Portuguese Ministry of Education, which is the highest official recognition attributed to private schools in Portugal.
ISTA offers several programs for children, teenagers and adults: Professional Training, School Tuition and Language Courses.

The license by the Ministry of Education allows us to offer all language courses exempt from VAT and deductible at the IRS. It also allows all our graduates to obtain Certificates of Completion recognised in the labour market.

Our Team
Sérgio Felício
Managing Director
Graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of Algarve and post-graduate in Training Management and Coordination, he assumed the management of the Institute in September 2017, with the determination to consolidate it as an undisputed reference in training in the Municipality of Albufeira.
​
With a strategic vision and an unwavering commitment to excellence, he has remarkably gained the trust and admiration of students, establishing strong relationships and promoting truly enriching learning experiences.
Margarida Guilherme
Pedagogical Director
The founder of the Institute of Arts and Letters of Albufeira has a solid academic background. She holds a bachelor's degree in Modern Languages and Literatures (English/German) and Languages and Cultures (Portuguese/Spanish), as well as a master's degree in Cultural Studies with a focus on English culture.
Currently, she is pursuing a Ph.D. in Culture and Communication at the University of Lisbon.

Since the 1980s, she has been dedicated to language teaching, and in 2004, she obtained recognition from the Ministry of Education through the Definitive Authorization for the Operation of ISTA. Her tireless work in the capital of Algarve tourism demonstrates her commitment and dedication to language teaching over the years.

Graduated in Biology from the University of Hamburg (Germany), the coordinator of the ISTA School Support Program plays a crucial role in the strategic and operational management of the institution's educational process. In addition to being a versatile, dedicated, and experienced professional, she actively contributes to the planning, development, and detailed monitoring of educational activities.

Her unwavering commitment is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to reach their full academic potential through personalized support and appropriate pedagogical resources. With an empathetic and results-oriented approach, she works closely with students, teachers, and the rest of the team, creating a motivating and enriching learning environment.
Nelson Rodrigues
Coordinator of Language Courses
Graduated in Languages and Communication, he has extensive experience in English and Portuguese as a Non-Native Language courses. He stands out for his dynamic and engaging approach to teaching, using multimedia tools to create modern and captivating lessons.
Additionally, he has been dedicated to the development of the teaching method at ISTA, working together with the other instructors to ensure the overall quality of our language courses. His teaching method is recognized for its interactive and stimulating approach, providing students with an engaging and enjoyable learning experience.
